I fish any and all water. I have fished them from water in arkanas all the way to alaska. I have caught salmon crappie bass trout grayling you name it  on the rubber legs. The only places I haven't had luck with them is tailwaters like the bighorn.

I just mainly use a plain black chenile white white rubber legs. Usaully a size 8 sometimes a beadhead works well. I cast slightly up stream and throw in a quick mend then let is swing untill it is straight below me then give it a few wiggles and strip it in using small one inch jerky strips. I really like to work over a hole when i use this fly taking a about five cast then moving half step to a full step downstream starting close then working my way out it will almost always prodouce a fish even when the fish aren't moving well.
